Coriolanus Premieres At The LFF
Ralph Fiennes directorial debut debutsBut soft! What light through yonder projector breaks? It is a new Shakespeare adaptation, and Ralph Fiennes is the director!* Coriolanus premiered last night at the BFILondon Film Festival, with the former Voldemort in the driving seat.{London Film Festival 2011 - Coriolanus Premiere}The play stars Fiennes as the titular Roman general, with Vanessa Redgrave as his proud mother and Brian Cox as his politician friend. Both were in attendance last night, although sadly Gerard Butler, who plays his fierce military rival, wasn't around.Fiennes, sporting a beard worthy of Captain Birdseye (for his turn onstage in The Tempest, which he's finishing at the moment) was on fine form, and the cast was joined by his composer, Ilan Eshkeri, and screenwriter John Logan. Coriolanus is out on January 20, 2012, and the BFILondonFilmFestival is underway now.*Yes, we know we're quoting the wrong play. You go ahead and dig up a handily-recognisable quote from Coriolanus; we'll wait.
